The Joint Measurement Board was established in 1934 to run the UK's national scheme for the measurement of the height of horses and ponies for the purpose of description and classification of such horses and ponies for competition.
This website contains full details of the Rules and procedures together with how to get a horse or pony measured and a search facility to check if an animal has been measured.
The JMB is a not-for-profit company meaning there are no shareholders and no individual or company profits from it financially.

The JMB is now paperless.
This means that no JMB certificates will be issued or updated and all measurements will be available for inspection on our on-line searchable database.
Owners must apply and pay for measurements in advance using an on-line form.
Once the animal is measured and the Official Measurer has uploaded the details we can add the measurement to the database within three working days.
When owners have applied and paid for a measurement they can book an appointment with an Official Measurer in the normal way, taking a hard or digital copy of the payment receipt, that we will email to them, to the measurement.
