The Joint Measurement Board (JMB) was established over 80 years ago by the major equestrian organisations of the day. It is a not-for-profit organisation and dedicated to the accurate measuring of the relaxed height of horses and ponies. Purpose

The Joint Measurement Board was established in 1934 to run a national scheme for the Measurement of the height of horses and ponies for the purpose of description and classification of horses and ponies for show and competition.

The Joint Measurement Board is a company registered at Companies House under company number 01600646 and limited by guarantee.

The Equestrian Societies Members of The Joint Measurement Board Limited are: British Connemara Pony Society, British Show Horse Association, British Showjumping, British Skewbald and Piebald Association, British Show Pony Society, Coloured Horse and Pony Society, National Pony Society, UK Ponies & Horses Ltd, Pony Racing Authority, Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain and Welsh Pony and Cob Society.

Stewards

Stewards are appointed by the Member Societies, on behalf of the British Equine Veterinary Association and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The Stewards constitute the Management Committee. In the event of any dispute as to the interpretation of these Rules the decision of the Stewards shall be final.

Secretariat

A Secretariat is appointed by the Stewards and has responsibility for the day to day running of the Board in accordance with the Rules and directions of the Stewards.
